Google Hangouts v5.1 now available; includes bug fixes

Google has now rolled out an updated version of Hangouts with version 5.1, which brings about minor changes to the service along with a few bug fixes. The update is now available for iOS from the App Store. The update has not arrived for Android users and is expected to be available soon via OTA.

Impatient Android users who wish to download the update right away can head to APK Mirror and download the Google-signed APK file. The Google Hangouts update will now offer minor changes to the Send button along with a few improvements to the app. There are no changes in terms of design and layout.

In August, the company also released an all-new dedicated website for Hangouts. Google launched a new website – – showing a pane with all your frequently accessed contacts. It shows three big buttons on the right side – Video Call, Phone Call and Message. Users can even click on a contact and pin it to favourites.

On starting a video call, users can share the screen, YouTube playlists and also draw right there on the video, just like before. This also means, users won’t require to log into Gmail or Google+ to access Hangouts.
