The government is establishing 2,000 ‘Computer & Language Training Labs’ in public educational institutions. Estimated spending for the establishment has been set at 176 crore 48 lakh taka. Work to that effect will begin this year and will be financed by the government. Laptops, multimedia projectors, scanners, 3G wifi routers and headphones will be purchased under the project.
This new project has been approved on Wednesday in a meeting of the government’s cabinet committee for procurement chaired by Finance Minister Abul Maal Muhith. The decision was later informed to the media by Additional Secretary of Cabinet Ministry Mostafizul Rahman
Earlier, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak mentioned the government’s plan to buy 34,000 computers for Sheikh Rasel Computer & Language Labs from CTIT fair being held at the BCS Computer City.
At the inauguration ceremony for the fair held on Monday he also said that laptops will reach every village in the country within this year. During this time span 1 lakh 70 thousand internet connections will also be added.
