There have been rumors circulating about a new smartphone that costs only 251 Indian Rupees or Tk. 288. But the company that came up with the plan has said that they will return the money that they got from pre orders. The president of Ringing Bells, Ashok Chadha, has said the company has taken a ‘payment on delivery’ policy for Freedom 251.
Ringing Bells, an Indian smartphone manufacturing company, had previously declared the launching of a new smartphone, the Freedom 251, earlier this month. The phone will run on Android 5.1 operating system. The phone comes with 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM. Storage can be increased by 32 GB using an external memory card.
The phone also features a 3.2 megapixel rear camera and 3 megapixel selfie camera. 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS features are also included. The phone houses a 450 MAh battery.
The company has been taking pre-orders online from February 18. There were 30,000 pre-orders on the first day. Till date, 50 million registrations have been completed for the budget phone.
On the other hand, Congress’ parliament member Pramod Tiwary has called the whole thing India’s biggest scam.
However, Ringing Bells has come up and said that they are planning to bring 2.5 million handsets in the market by June.
