After 10 months of being in the carrier business, Google has announced that its Project Fi is open to anyone in the US. That means an invitation is no longer required to sign up for the service: all anyone needs is a compatible phone. The Nexus 6, Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X are the only devices that will allow you to avail Project Fi.
Project Fi is Google’s attempt to recondition the cellular network. With Project Fi’s plan, you pay what you use and nothing more. Fi offers plan as low as $30 per month with unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data. You will have to pay $10 for each additional GB of data. Any unused data will be credited back to you in dollars and cents.
Google has also incorporated two new features in their service: WiFi calling and two LTE radios for better data coverage.
You can also buy the Nexus 5X starting at $ 199 through Project Fi’s plan.
