Bangladesh has won the bid to host the 2021 World Congress on Information and Communications Technology (WICT) summit. The World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) has informed this on Thursday. As the local representative of WITSA, Bangladesh Computer Samity will arrange this biennial summit in association with the ICT Division.
State Minister of ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak has confirmed the news. Palak said, “We won the bid for WCIT 2021. We successfully explained our Digital Bangladesh dream to them.”
Earlier, BCS President A.H.M Mahfuzul Arif requested Mr. Santiago Gutierrez, President of World Information Technology Services Alliance (WITSA) to give Bangladesh the opportunity to host the event in his first ever visit to Bangladesh in December 2015.
The World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) is an incorporated non-profit entity created to serve the interests of the global information and communications
technology (“ICT”) industry. It is represented by the eighty-three (83) national associations that are WITSA members. WITSA owns all the rights of World Congress on Information and Communications Technology trademarks and material used in the marketing and holding of WICT events. These rights will be licensed to the national WITSA member association selected to host WICT 2021 after proposals have been carefully considered by the WITSA Chairman, Secretary General and Board of Directors.
